§ 2-64. Keeping of records of city council by city clerk.

  • The city clerk shall be ex officio clerk of the city council, shall attend all meetings of the city council, shall take the minutes thereof and record them in suitable books and shall be responsible for a complete and accurate record of the proceedings of the city council with respect to every matter engaging its attention. He shall keep an index book in which shall be indexed the subject matter of important proceedings by the city council with references to the pages of the minute book where such matters appear.

    The city clerk shall read at each meeting of the city council the minutes of the previous meeting, unless otherwise ordered, and shall preserve the original memoranda thereof.

    The minutes of the meetings of the city council shall be opened to inspection during regular business hours.
